The Tulsa Police Department said two people were arrested early Friday after the pilot of its helicopter spotted suspicious activity from the air.

Around 1:40 a.m., the helicopter pilot observed a silver Nissan slow rolling and driving suspiciously in a neighborhood near 81st Street and Memorial Drive.

The Nissan was making frequent stops, with a man and woman getting out, checking car doors, then getting back in.

Eventually, the suspects in the Nissan realized the helicopter was watching them and attempted to flee the neighborhood.

With help from the helicopter, Tulsa police on the ground initiated a traffic stop on the Nissan. A firearm was recovered from the vehicle police said the suspects admitted they were breaking into cars.

Amethyst Ruiz and Daniel Drew were arrested for burglary of a vehicle, possession of a firearm while committing a felony.

Daniel Drew is also a convicted felon and is being held on a warrant out of Rogers County.
