National child care franchise The Learning Experience and developer Crosslands Construction broke ground Thursday on a 10,000-square-foot child care center with a 5,000-square-foot outdoor playground in Broken Arrow.

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of next year with the center opening in the spring of 2024.

Currently, The Learning Experience has two locations open in the Tulsa area, including a center in Jenks and another in Bixby. The Broken Arrow location will be at 3501 N. 9th St.

The Learning Experience provides child care and early education for children between 6 weeks and 6 years of age. Its preschool curriculum features engaging educational characters like "Bubbles the Elephant" and teaches children everything from the ABCs and 123s, to science and sign language, to lifelong lessons on the value of kindness, inclusion, and helping others in the community.

The Tulsa region is growing with young families and like many parts of the country, it is experiencing a child care shortage leaving parents struggling to find high-quality care and early education for their kids.

During the pandemic, upwards of 20,000 child care centers closed in communities across America, according to the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
