The Broken Arrow Police Department was recently informed of a telephone scam involving an unknown person falsely representing themselves as one of our own officers in an attempt to solicit money from the public.
A concerned citizen received a phone call from someone impersonating a BAPD officer and requesting money for missed court dates. Fortunately, the citizen recognized this as a scam and did not provide any money.
The caller stated that they were a member of the Broken Arrow Warrants Department. All officers employed at the Broken Arrow Police Department are tasked with serving valid warrants. However, we do not have a dedicated unit for these duties.
The Broken Arrow Police Department will never call citizens requesting money by telephone. Should you receive a phone call like this, please know it is very likely a scam.
To ensure your safety, we urge you not to provide any personal or financial information to anyone over the phone; especially if they are an unknown caller.
If you have any information about these crimes or are a victim, please contact the Broken Arrow Police Department at 918-259-8400.
