Police said a 9-year-old boy is in critical condition at a local hospital after being hit by a car going to the Rhema Christmas lights display in the area.

At 6:36 p.m. officers were called to 1025 W. Kenosha St., in front of Rhema Bible College.

Police did not release any information about the driver and the investigation is continuing.

It’s the second year in a row a child has been struck by a car in that area, where the Rhema Christmas Lights Extravaganza is held annually. A 4-year-old boy was struck by a car in 2021 while cross the street to see the Christmas displays and was hospitalized.
