It was a night of celebration for “Board Member Appreciation Month” at the new year’s first Broken Arrow Board of Education meeting Monday night.
“I think you can see from all the decor and all the letters, and they've got many more behind the desk, I think this school board is the best in the nation,” BAPS Supt. Chuck Perry.
Perry said the board is not there with an agenda or their own selfish reasons, they’re here to serve the students and they do a great job of it.
“Throughout my time it is the best board I’ve ever been a part of,” Board of Education President Steve Allen said. “Everyone has a servant mentality and we have one purpose and that’s to make Broken Arrow the very best and do the very best for our teachers and our students and our community and for me it’s just an honor.”
“You know the other side of that is the administration,” Board of Education Vice President Jerry Denton said. “I know it's our appreciation moment but honestly it extends beyond us as well, because you guys make an incredible team and there’s so much that goes on that you take care of.”
Board member Debbie Taylor said she hasn't been on the board that long but is impressed with the administration and thankful to be able to work with people who really care about what they’re doing.
“It’s really been a blessing, so thank you so much,” Taylor said.
