The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a Tulsa man died Saturday afternoon during a 1-car accident near Hominy.
Troopers said George B. Schulz, 49, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban east on State Highway 20 when the vehicle departed the roadway to the right. OHP said Schulz then overcorrected and the vehicle re-entered the roadway and departed on the left — striking a barbed wire fence, continuing through the fence then striking trees.
The vehicle continued down a ravine overturning 1 ¾ times before coming to rest on its side in a pasture.
Schulz was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the collision. Troopers said he was not wearing a seat belt.
The accident happened at about 1:50 p.m. 8/10ths of a mile east of County Road 5455, 2 miles west of Hominy. The condition of the driver and accident cause are still being investigated.
The Osage County Sheriff’s Office, Osage Nation Tribal Police Department, Hominy Police Department, Hominy Fire Department and Hominy EMS assisted at the scene.
