2 dead after standoff in Broken Arrow home

The Broken Arrow Police Department said 2 people are dead after a standoff that lasted several hours Thursday.

Officers responded to the 2700 block of West Imperial Street around 3:50 p.m. for a welfare check and encountered a dead female inside a home, said BAPD Public Information Officer Ethan Hutchins.

At the same time officers encountered a male suspect inside who was armed with a knife. He retreated into the home and refused commands from officers to exit the residence unarmed.

BAPD's Special Operations Team responded and began attempts to contact the suspect. He was ultimately found inside the residence deceased with apparent self inflicted wounds.

There is no ongoing threat to the public and the incident remains under investigation, Hutchins said.
