Broken Arrow police have identified the husband and wife who died during a murder-suicide incident Thursday night.

The woman who was killed is 66-year-old Diane Carpenter, and the husband who was involved in the standoff with police was Kenneth Carpenter, 56. Police confirmed they were married and lived in the residence together.

Officers responded to the 2700 block of West Imperial Street around 3:50 p.m. for a welfare check and encountered Diane deceased in the home.

At the same time, officers encountered her husband, who was armed with a knife. He retreated into the home and refused commands from officers to exit the residence unarmed.

BAPD's Special Operations Team responded and began attempts to contact Kenneth, who was ultimately found inside the residence deceased with apparent self inflicted wounds.

There is no ongoing threat to the public and the incident remains under investigation, Hutchins said.
