On Jan. 2, 2023, a social media post sent shockwaves through downtown Broken Arrow and beyond. After more than a decade in business, Glamour Gowns and More was closing up shop.
Hundreds of comments followed, many of congratulations for the retirement of boutique owner Kellie Blanton, but also sadness the business was closing.
The news caught the eye, and heart, of Broken Arrow business owner Sarah Salyer, who knew she wasn’t ready to see the Rose District staple close its doors.
“When I read that Kellie was retiring, I thought, well good for her!" Salyer said. "But sad for Broken Arrow. Glamour Gowns is a staple here.”
After working in real estate for several years, Salyer and her husband Jake, who has worked in real estate 18 years, started their own local brokerage, Hearth Homes Realty. Sarah and Jake officially acquired Glamour Gowns and More on Jan. 27.
With prom season officially underway, Sarah Salyer is ready to guide local high schoolers in the time-honored tradition of finding their perfect gown. Instead of closing on Jan. 31, GGM’s new owners will be having an official reopening of the store Feb. 4.
"I have so many memories of Kellie from high school and knew somewhat of the store's history," Jake Salyer said. "A specialty boutique has always been a dream of Sarah’s and knowing the business Kellie built, we're honored she decided to trust us with it. And I know my wife will continue to make the store thrive."
