With the filing deadline passing at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Tulsa County Clerk’s Office, the races for Broken Arrow City Council are set.

The three seats being contested in the April 4 municipal election are Ward 3, Ward 4 and At-Large.

In Ward 3, incumbent City Councilor Christi Gillespie, 53, will face Mike Lester, 75. Gillespie unseated Lester, the formerly appointed mayor, in the 2019 Ward 3 election. In Ward 4, incumbent Scott Eudey, 49, will face 45-year-old Joe Franco.

At-Large City Council Johnnie Parks, 75, has drawn three challengers: George Ghesquire, 44; Sonjia Potter, 76, and William Vaughn, 49.

Ghesquire ran for Broken Arrow School Board last year, finishing third in a four-way race won by Debbie Taylor.

Vaughn ran for the at-large seat in 2019 – which was also a three-way race – but was not successful. Vaughn was endorsed by the Broken Arrow Firefighters Association in 2019.
