A 41-year-old man was killed Wednesday when his motorcycle collided with an SUV in south Tulsa, the Tulsa Police Department said.
Officers were called to the 5800 block of South Peoria Avenue for the collision. The motorcycle rider, Brian Dexter Pruitt, was pronounced dead at the scene from the impact.
Prior to the collision, The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Lighthorse Police attempted to stop the motorcycle on South Riverside Drive and a short pursuit ensued.
The motorcycle ended up traveling south on Peoria at a high rate of speed when the SUV pulled out from a parking lot turning left to head north on Peoria. The motorcycle struck the driver's side of the SUV causing significant damage to the motorcycle and the SUV.
Dexter suffered critical injuries and died at the scene. The driver of the SUV sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
The Medical Examiner's Office will determine the exact cause of Dexter's death. The Tulsa PD Traffic Unit is conducting the investigation into the collision and will report on their finding in the coming weeks.
