Big things are happening at Northeastern State University-Broken Arrow. From welcoming new team members to celebrating student success and scholarship - it is an exciting time to be on campus.

Innovation, change and progress are common here at NSU where we are constantly working toward a mission to better serve our students and surrounding communities.

The NSU community is excited to welcome Dr. Eruore Hopkins as the Broken Arrow Director of Operations & Community Relations to help serve that mission. Hopkins joins NSU from Madison Strategies Group where she was Director of Programs. Hopkins has also served as Assistant Dean for Admissions and Enrollment Management at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and Assistant Director of Admissions and Diversity Initiatives and Admissions Counselor and Diversity Outreach Coordinator at the University of Tulsa.

As Director of Operations and Community Relations on the Broken Arrow campus, Hopkins will help to promote the leadership culture within the campus and support NSU’s mission, goals and outcomes toward growth and development of an organizational team approach of faculty and staff in serving students and community members. Hopkins will also support the growth and quality of student success, customer care, campus diversity and community outreach. We look forward to Hopkins’ service here on the Broken Arrow campus and beyond.

NSU-Broken Arrow will host DogFest, a fundraiser for Anthem Service Dogs, on April 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Community members are invited to gather on campus to enjoy food trucks, vendors, disc golf and free pet microchips for a good cause. Those interested in learning more or volunteering can visit https://www.anthemservicedogs.org/events-1/dogfest-2023.

As the semester starts to wind down, it’s time for students to think about the next steps in their career and education.

If you’re currently taking college classes in the Broken Arrow or Tulsa areas and trying to find the right fit to finish your degree, NSU is here to help.

NSU Admissions and Recruitment will host a RiverHawk Transfer Day at the Broken Arrow campus on Thursday, April 20. This event will give prospective transfer students a chance to experience life on the Broken Arrow campus, meet with academic advisors and learn the steps to becoming a RiverHawk. To learn more about this and other recruitment events, visit offices.nsuok.edu/admissions/Transfer.

In the coming weeks, many RiverHawks will mark the end of their journey as students and officially become alumni during our spring commencement ceremonies next month. It is an exciting time of accomplishment, relief and perhaps a little uncertainty. Whether you’re heading into a graduate degree or searching for your dream job, NSU’s support doesn't end when you receive your diploma.

NSU Career Services is here to help students and alumni find their fit in today’s rapidly changing workforce. Career counselors are available to help you at any stage in your career journey. To learn more about Career Services events and resources for NSU students and alumni, visit nsuok.edu/careerservices.

April is a busy month on all of the NSU campuses. I encourage you all to stay up to date with events and happenings through the campus calendar at nsuok.edu/calendar.

Wishing you a fun and productive month!

Dan Mabery, Vice President of University Relations
