Crunch Franchise made it official this week that a new fitness facility will be opening in New Orleans Square, taking over a major retail space that has been vacant for several years.
Crunch Broken Arrow will be constructing a $6 million, 45,000-square-foot gym in the old Reasor’s building at 3701 S. Elm Place. The company said the gym will have “state-of-the-art equipment and amenities.” The company did not state when construction will start.
Reasor’s announced in 2019 that it was closing its south Broken Arrow grocery store, located in an aging building it was leasing that needed extensive repairs. The decision triggered much anger and disappointment from city officials and residents in Broken Arrow.
That departure, along with the exit of Hobby Lobby and a few other retailers, pushed city officials to create the New Orleans Square Advisory Committee to study challenges with the retail center and find solutions.
The Advisory Committee and City Council approved a special overlay district to provide zoning standards for redevelopment. The city’s increased communication and support of NOS business owners – and increased investments by some property owners -- has helped increase the occupation rate of retail spaces in NOS to more than 90%.
Last year Reasor’s announced plans for a new grocery store at the Aspen Ridge development near 121st Street and Aspen Avenue. Groundbreaking is set for May 9.
Crunch Franchisee Tony Hartl said the facility will fuse fitness with entertainment “to make serious fitness fun.”
Crunch will offer top-quality cardio and strength training equipment, half-hour circuit training, a functional HITTZone training area with indoor turf, Ride spin classes, a dedicated group fitness studio, hot yoga, boxing classes, Kid’s Crunch babysitting services, tanning, HydroMassage beds, red light therapy, personal training, and full-service locker rooms with showers and a sauna.
The gym will be open 24/7 and memberships will start at $9.99 per month.
Crunch is known for innovative group fitness programming and will offer a wide range of classes every week including BodyWeb with TRX, Zumba, Cardio Tai Box, Yoga Body Sculpt, Fat Burning Pilates and more in the gym's group fitness studio.
Crunch Fitness said it’s offering a promotion for their founding members. The first 500 members will join for only $1 and receive their first month free, and a complimentary one-hour personal training session, gym bag, water bottle and t-shirt.
Those interested can enter to win a free one year all access membership and lock in your Founding 500 rate at https://info.crunch.com/rate-reservations.
Crunch Fitness will also be inviting over 100 individuals people to work at the facility, and is in search for managers, group fitness instructors, personal trainers, customer service representatives, facility technicians and babysitters. Applications can be found at epiccrunchjobs.com.
