Broken Arrow’s Ward 4 city councilor, Joe Franco, has submitted his resignation only a few weeks after being sworn in.

His resignation, effective May 12, 2023, also applies to all boards, commissions, and committees he is a member of.

“It is with great regret and a heavy heart that I make this decision, but after careful consideration, I believe it is in the best interest of myself, my family, city staff and the constituents I represent,” said Franco in a statement released by the city Saturday.

“However, recent personal circumstances have arisen that require my immediate attention and make it impossible for me to continue in this capacity.”

The next regular meeting of the City Council is Tuesday, May 16 at 6:30 p.m. The agenda will include an item for the governing body to discuss the process for filling the Ward 4 council seat.

Franco unseated incumbent Scott Eudey during the municipal election April 4.
