Elwood Williams isn’t old enough to do many things, but he does know one thing: he grew tired of getting haircuts a couple of years ago.

So the 7th grader at Sequoyah Muddle School in Broken Arrow, decided to grow his hair long -- but there was one challenge.

“I also wanted to keep hair out of my face while playing soccer and basketball. A mullet was the obvious choice,” Williams said.

Williams started growing his hair out in March 2021 and hasn’t looked back. Now he’s seeking mullet immortality as he competes in the USA Mullet Championships for kids and teens. His mullet is called the “Oklahoma tornado.”

Williams was born and raised in Broken Arrow and needs voting support to make it to the next round. CLICK HERE TO VOTE, or go to https://www.mulletchamp.com/kids_and_teens/elwood-williams-the-oklahoma-tornado/.

As of press time Friday, Williams already has 207 votes. Logan Lease from Gore, Okla. and Slade Frazier from Ada are also competing in the contest.

USA Mullet Championships has already raised $32,000 in donations, 100% of which go to Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors program.
