A quick-thinking and observant clerk at a gas station and convenience store helped disrupt an alleged kidnapping case, the Coweta Police Department said.

At about 8:30 m. on Tuesday, Coweta's central dispatch center received a 911 call from a clerk at T-Mart in Coweta. The clerk quietly told the Coweta communications officer that there was an adult male and female in the store and that the female indicated she needed help.

Coweta Police Sgt. Chuck McCullough was nearby and went to check on the situation. After conversation with both parties, McCullough arrested John Ruble, 37, of Bixby on a complaint of kidnapping.

Police said Ruble resisted arrest and during the struggle suffered a contusion. A complaint of obstructing an officer was then added. Ruble was booked into Wagoner County Jail.
