Large hail, damaging winds and possibly a couple of tornadoes are possible in northeastern Oklahoma late this afternoon and tonight, the NWS Storm Prediction Center says.
Wagoner County is included in a tornado watch – running roughly just east of Highway 75 – issued by the SPC late this afternoon, with Tulsa County right on the borderline. The tornado threat is less certain, forecasters say, but a couple could spring up with the strongest supercells. Wind gusts could go as high as 65 mph and hailstones could reach 2 inches in diameter.
The air mass in the wake of storms earlier today continues to gradually destabilize, with severe storms expected to increase mainly near a front through late afternoon and early evening, the SPC says. Strong wind profiles will support initial supercells.
Sunny, with a high of 89 and low of 61 degrees. Sunny in the morning, clear for the afternoon and evening, mist overnight.
