Authorities had to close Highway 51 in both directions Thursday near Coweta due to a major crash.
The highway was closed between Oneta Road and 257th E. Avenue S. after a 5-car fatality accident earlier this afternoon. A wrecker has begun removing the vehicles involved.
The Coweta Police Department expects the highway to be closed for at least another 30 minutes, and possibly as long as an hour.
People who normally take Highway 51 through Coweta to return home should seek an alternate route.
