A Wagoner man is hospitalized in guarded condition after her car was hit by a freight train Friday night in Mayes County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
Stephen Atchley, 70, was flown by Survival Group Life Flight to Ascension St. John Medical Center in Tulsa with head and trunk internal injuries.
Troopers said Atchley was driving a 2001 Dodge Ram east on EW650 around 7:15 p.m. when he failed to yield while crossing over a set of train tracks. His truck was hit by a northbound train that included 3 engines and 7 train cars.
Assisting OHP at the scene the Wagoner County and Mayes County Sheriff’s Office, Chouteau Fire, MESTA and Survival Group Life Flight.
