Broken Arrow Athletics announces new members of Hall of Fame

Brad Blackwell
Graduated 2000, played football and baseball. As a senior in football,
Brad was selected as team captain, was leading tackler his junior and
senior year. His senior year in baseball, he was on the Sunbelt Roster as
a pitcher.

After his senior year, he was drafted by the Chicago Cubs but elected to accept a full scholarship to Seminole State College. Brad is in the Seminole State College Hall of Fame as a pitcher. After Seminole, Brad signed with North Carolina State and a year later was drafted in the 12th round by New York Yankees. After retiring from professional baseball, Brad went to Northeastern State (BA campus) where he received his Bachelor’s degree.

Scotty Morgan
Graduated 1983, three-sport athlete- football, basketball, and baseball. Excelled in all 3 sports with baseball garnering him a college scholarship, but it was his love for football that moved him towards being a teacher and a coach.

He started his career at Broken Arrow teaching and coaching junior high football, basketball and track. He quickly moved up to High School Football and High School Track. He soon became the Head Track coach and won the first BA State Championship in boys Track. He dedicated 28 years to Broken Arrow as a teacher and coach. Scotty passed on January 2nd, 2023. He will be missed but never forgotten!

Branson Phillips
Graduated in 1999, attended University of Oregon on a wrestling scholarship. Branson was a 2X Dual State champion and 2X State Champion in High School.

Was undefeated his senior year and was selected All-State 1999, was 6th for all time number of wins for Broken Arrow. Branson was a Junior High State champion, Junior National Finalist and Cadet National Finalist. After graduating from Oregon Branson was hired by Broken Arrow where he coached for 16 years.

Julie (Shafer) Ireland
Graduated 2002, 4X Letter winner in softball, helping the Lady Tigers get to State Championship games in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001, winning championships in 1998 and 2001. 2X All-Conference, and named to the Oklahoma All-State team. Scholarship to the University of Tulsa where she was a 4-year letter winner and starter. Started 241 of the 244 games she played. 3X All-Conference, Conference USA Champion 2006. Graduated with Bachelor of Science in Business Administration

Thomas Shannon
Graduated 2008, was a four-year letter winner, 3X All-Conference and All-District, and 2X All-Metro player soccer player. He was the 2008 Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year and Wendy’s High School Heisman winner. Attended the Universitv of Memphis where he was a four-year starter. Thomas was an outstanding student maintaining a weighted 4.40 GPA, he was a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council. Both his undergraduate(Cum Laude) and graduate degrees are in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Memphis.
