Dr. Chris McNeil, who was appointed to the Union School Board in 2021, held back a stiff challenge Tuesday to win a full term on the district’s board of education representing Zone 2.
Schools in Zone 2 include Andersen, Cedar Ridge, Moore and Peters elementaries.
McNeil, who has taught financial literacy and helped coach wresting at Union, won with a total of 686 votes (54.7%) to 566 for her opponent, Shelley Gwartney.
McNeil was endorsed by the Tulsa World. Gwartney carried many endorsements, including the Tulsa Republican Party, Oklahoma Senators Nathan Dahm and Joe Newhouse, Broken Arrow Mayor Debra Wimpee, Broken Arrow Vice Mayor Christi Gillespie, Broken Arrow City Council member Lisa Ford and Oklahoma Rep. Ross Ford.
