The Broken Arrow Public Schools Board of Education approved Tara Thompson as the new chief communications officer Monday night at the regular board meeting.

Thompson returns to the district after an 8-year stint with Northeast Tech in Pryor, where she served as the director communications and most recently as the executive director of operations. Her experience and knowledge led her to return to her Broken Arrow roots to continue making the district an amazing place to live and work, BAPS said in a news release.

“I’m absolutely thrilled at the opportunity to return to Broken Arrow Public Schools. This is home, and I care deeply about the success of this community,” said Thompson in a statement released by BAPS.

“Education has the power to transform lives, and it’s an honor to join the thousands of other educators in this district. From bus drivers to teachers to custodians to principals, it takes a team to educate the almost 20,000 students every day, and I am honored to once again be of service to the students, staff and patrons of my community.”

Adam J. Foreman, who previously served in the role of executive director of public relations for the past 2 years, was also approved in a new role as assistant director of fine arts, joining a team led by Darrin Davis, who a few months ago was named executive director of fine arts.

“My passion for fine arts is unending,” said Foreman, “and to be able to relay that love for the arts into student-focused curriculum and marketing is nothing short of a dream job. I am so honored to help lead a department that strives to show the correlation between academics and arts in creating the whole person in our student body as they prepare for secondary education and beyond.”

Foreman’s arts background is vast and includes more than two decades of service to the Broken Arrow Arts & Humanities Council which evolved into ARTSOK Inc. Under both banners he has served many roles, including as president and vice president of the organization. Foreman has also directed and organized several community-driven musical productions, all of which raised funds for local non-profit organizations.
